Kamloops Massage Matters & Lymphedema Clinic
Massage matters
It is widely understood that massage therapy decreases stress and helps control pain. Perhaps less known is the effectiveness of massage therapy in treating deeper structures of the body such as ligaments, bones and joints, fascia, blood vessels, organs and other soft tissues of the body. Massage therapy can provide relief for many common conditions.

MAINTENANCE
Top 5 Frequently Asked Questions
Do You Direct Bill?
All of our therapists are independent practitioners and have personal billing preferences . Our Registered Massage Therapists can bill most health care plans directly (with your permission), but our physiotherapists do not. Regardless, we will happily issue you a reciept for you to submit for reimbursemsent. Please check with your insurance regarding your coverage - and with your individual therapist - before booking your first appointment. How Long is my first appointment?
The long made short is simply 60 minutes. What happens in these 60 minutes is different for everyone. The "Initial Assessment and Treatment" includes time to review your health history, an interview, and an assessment before treatment begins. Your reason for treatment and goal determines the time needed for the review. We want to ensure that we are going to be safe and effective when it comes to your personalized treatment. What Do I Wear?
First and foremost, we want you to be comfortable. Every treatment and every therapists will have different needs and preferences, but your level of comfort is our guiding rule. Some people choose to bring shorts (and sports bra), but it isn't necessary. Privacy is maintained at all times through clinical draping techniques and/or by keeping your street clothing on. Check in with your therapist and they will help you with the appropriate options.Where Do I Park?
Street parking is available outside our building for a fee or, if you don't mind a short walk, parking is free in the 600 block of St. Paul Street. We do not have any parking available for patients - please do not park behind our building as those spots are reserved for building tenants and you will be towed. Downtown "pay parking" is in effect Monday - Saturday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm and has a 3 hour maximum. Payment can be made at any streetside pay-station using a credit card or coins, or by using the PayByPhone app.Do You Offer Couple's Massage?
Our facility is limited to one patient per room in order to maintain therapeutic confidentiality and privacy. If you are looking to have a massage with a family member or a friend, may we suggest checking into one of the many amazing spas Kamloops has to offer.

acknowledgement of Territory
TteS
The word Kamloops is the English translation of the Shuswap word Tk’emlúps, meaning ‘where the rivers meet,’ and for centuries has been the home of the Tk’emlupsemc, ‘people of the confluence.’
Kamloops Massage Matters is situated on the traditional and unceded territory of Tk'emlups te Secwepemc.
To acknowledge this traditional territory is to recognize its long history since time immemorial.
It is also to acknowledge this territory’s significance and the Indigenous Peoples who lived, and continue to live, upon it – Peoples whose laws, practices and spiritualities are tied to the land and continue to develop in relationship to the territory and its other inhabitants today.
